ST. STEPHEN'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH - Allentown, PA
The exterior restoration of this church has been reviewed 5 years after completion. The work was planned and supervised by John Harry, Restoration Consultant, who also revisited the work in early 2001.
Work was completed by Masonry Preservation Group of Merchantville, NJ in 1995. The work included chemical cleaning, spot repointing, extensive repair of brownstone trim elements with Edison Custom SYSTEM
45 and other masonry repairs. Two shades of System 45 were used to match the range of colors of present after the building was cleaned. For the majority of the repairs, the two colors were intermixed in
varying proportions to enable a closer match to each repair area.
"In the five years since the work was performed, there have been no failures of the repairs - no separations, cracking or lifting. There has also not been any discernable fading or discoloration of the
color of the patched areas and color remain vibrant and an excellent match to the original stone. It is very difficult to discern that the building has undergone substantial amounts of repair unless a
very close and detailed examination is made." - John E. Harry
